Cordulegaster dorsalis Hagen in Selys, 1858
Behaviour:
Like many Cordulegastridae, Cordulegaster dorsalis may be observed patrolling streams, rarely landing.
Reproduction:
Females possess a long, spike-like ovipositor. Females may be observed ovipositing at at the edge of streams into the mud. Females bend their abdomen so that it points straight downward and then move their bodies up and down poking their ovipositor into the muck (Corbet (1999) describes this behaviour in more detail).
